WELCOME TONI!

September 2022

We are delighted to welcome our newest clinical neuropsychology grad student, Toni Solis! Toni has a very interesting background, recently immigrating to Canada from the Philippines where she was a licensed psychologist working in a memory clinic for geriatric patient populations. Toni is also a licensed psychotherapist in Ontario. We're lucky to have you!

SSHRC GRANT ON PHILIPPINE EDUCATED NURSES GRANTED!

July 2022

A recent grant led by Edward Cruz (Faculty of Nursing) was just awarded funding by SSHRC! Dr. Romero is a co-investigator and will be helping analyze quantitative data on these nurses' work experiences in Ontario. There is virtually no data on Philippine educated nurses in Ontario, despite them comprising a sizeable proportion of the nursing work force. 

NEW PUBLICATION!

July 2021

Dr. Romero and his collaborators at York University, the University of Toronto, and Baycrest Health Sciences had their manuscript on cluster analysis of cognitive performance accepted for publication in the Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology.

Astrid and Dr. Romero had their manuscript on multivariate base rates of cognitive impairment accepted in the Archives of Clinical Neuropsychology. Yay!

We are delighted to welcome Astrid Coleman as the newest clinical graduate student to the lab. Astrid comes by way of the University of Toronto, where she worked with Morris Moscovitch and Jennifer Jenkins. Astrid also won an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) for her incoming year. What an acheievement! So glad you chose to work with us!

A big congratulations goes to Iulia for successfully obtaining a scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). These highly competitive scholarships are based on a number of criteria, including academic performance, research potential, and community involvement. Bravo!

SEED GRANT FROM WE-SPARK TO FUND ONLINE COGNITIVE TESTING OF DIVERSE OLDER ADULTS IN WINDSOR-ESSEX!

December 20, 2020

Dr. Romero was successful in obtaining a seed grant from the WE-Spark Health Institute to study the use of online cognitive tests in older adults from the Windsor-Essex region! Crucially, this work will actively recruit those from racialized communities so they are better represented in researh. Stay tuned for more!
